Sprout Social is the tool marketing teams graduate to when a scheduler is no longer enough: one inbox for every comment, message and review, reporting a manager can read, and keyword monitoring. It is priced like it. Every plan is sold per seat, so the real question is not "how much is Sprout" but "how much is Sprout for the number of people who will use it".

This guide answers that question plan by plan, then works out the yearly bill for a team of 1, 3 and 5. Prices are Sprout Social's US list prices in US dollars, from its pricing page, before tax.

Sprout Social pricing at a glance

Plan Per seat a month, billed annually Per seat a month, billed monthly Social profiles
Essentials $79 $99 5
Standard $199 $249 5
Professional $299 $399 Unlimited
Advanced $399 $499 Unlimited
Enterprise Custom Custom Unlimited

The prices on the plan cards are annual-billing prices; Sprout lists the other monthly-billing prices in its billing FAQ. Every plan comes with a 30-day free trial, no credit card required.

How the per-seat model works

You pay the plan price once for each seat. There is no base fee and no cheaper "extra seat" rate: the pricing page lists the same per-seat price whether you buy one seat or ten, and no separate price for adding seats later. Sprout's payment FAQ says prepayment options debit your account monthly according to your plan and number of users.

Two things follow from that:

  • No discount for light users. The pricing page shows one price per seat on each plan, with no cheaper seat for someone who only logs in now and then.
  • Seats, not profiles, drive the bill on higher plans. From Professional up, profiles are unlimited, so connecting a new brand's Instagram costs nothing; adding a person does.

The opposite model is Buffer's, which charges per social account with unlimited users on its Team plan; we compare the two at the end.

Essentials: $79 a seat, built for publishing

Essentials is the newest and cheapest plan: $79 a seat a month billed annually, $99 monthly. Sprout describes it as made for social media professionals focused on publishing. It includes:

  • Up to 5 social profiles.
  • The collaborative content calendar, the post scheduler and the Sprout Queue (10 messages a day).
  • Optimal send times when you compose a post, hashtag suggestions and AI-written alt text.
  • Profile-level and post-level reporting, with group, network and Google Analytics reports.
  • Trellis, Sprout's AI agent, with 100 credits per seat a month.
  • The mobile app, 24/5 phone and live chat support.

What Essentials leaves out is most of what Sprout is known for. The all-in-one social inbox, review management and keyword monitoring start on Standard. If your main job is planning and publishing posts, Essentials does it; if your main job is answering customers, it doesn't.

Standard: $199 a seat, the inbox and monitoring

Standard costs $199 a seat a month billed annually, $249 monthly. It keeps the limit of 5 social profiles and adds:

  • The all-in-one social inbox with custom views, reply collision detection, case management, comment moderation (including on Facebook and Instagram ads) and push notifications.
  • Review management for Google Business Profile, Facebook, Yelp, Tripadvisor, Glassdoor, Trustpilot and the app stores.
  • Keyword and location monitoring, with 10 brand keywords per group.
  • Contact views with notes and history, and 90 days of conversation history.
  • WhatsApp, Yelp, Trustpilot and Glassdoor integrations.

For a local business that lives on reviews and direct messages, Standard is the plan where Sprout starts to earn its price.

Professional: $299 a seat, unlimited profiles

Professional costs $299 a seat a month billed annually, $399 monthly. Sprout marks it as the most popular plan. Its headline change is unlimited social profiles. It also adds:

  • Message approval workflows and advanced publishing permissions.
  • Bulk scheduling, Instagram grid planning, a digital asset library and campaign tagging.
  • Competitor reports for Facebook, X and Instagram, paid social performance reports and tag reports.
  • Message tagging, saved replies, engagement reporting and full conversation history.
  • Custom link tracking and custom report branding.
  • Shopify, WooCommerce and Facebook Shops integrations. If you sell on Shopify, our Shopify pricing guide covers that side of the bill.
  • Enhance Post by AI Assist, and a Sprout Queue of 20 messages a day.

Professional has the largest annual discount of the four: 25%, against 20% on the others.

Advanced: $399 a seat, automation and integrations

Advanced costs $399 a seat a month billed annually, $499 monthly. It is for teams where social media is also customer service. It adds:

  • Sentiment in the Smart Inbox and on reviews, and automated message classification.
  • Case routing, approvals for replies, macros, chatbots and inbox rules.
  • Helpdesk and CRM integrations: Salesforce, Zendesk, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Marketo. If you are choosing a CRM as well, see our HubSpot CRM pricing, Salesforce pricing and Dynamics 365 pricing guides.
  • The Sprout API, team productivity and customer care reports, scheduled report delivery and message spike alerts.
  • 20 brand keywords per group, a queue of 30 messages a day, feature visibility controls and IP allowlisting.

Enterprise: priced on request

Enterprise has no list price; you book a demo. Sprout says it adds white-glove onboarding, a plan tailored to the business, dedicated single sign-on setup and priority support. For a small business, Enterprise is unlikely to be relevant.

What a 1, 3 and 5-person team pays

Here is the yearly bill at list price, before tax and add-ons:

Plan 1 seat 3 seats 5 seats
Essentials, annual billing $948 $2,844 $4,740
Essentials, monthly billing $1,188 $3,564 $5,940
Standard, annual billing $2,388 $7,164 $11,940
Standard, monthly billing $2,988 $8,964 $14,940
Professional, annual billing $3,588 $10,764 $17,940
Professional, monthly billing $4,788 $14,364 $23,940
Advanced, annual billing $4,788 $14,364 $23,940
Advanced, monthly billing $5,988 $17,964 $29,940

Each figure is the per-seat price × 12 × the number of seats.

Sprout Social for one year, by plan and team size, billed annually

  • 1 seat
  • 3 seats
  • 5 seats
Annual-billing price per seat × 12 × the number of seats: Essentials $79, Standard $199, Professional $299, Advanced $399. Before tax, Trellis Plus and add-ons.
Show the numbers
1 seat3 seats5 seats
Essentials$948$2,844$4,740
Standard$2,388$7,164$11,940
Professional$3,588$10,764$17,940
Advanced$4,788$14,364$23,940

One pattern stands out: Professional on monthly billing costs exactly as much as Advanced on annual billing, $399 a seat a month either way. If you are sure you will use Sprout for a year and can pay up front, the annual commitment buys you a whole plan tier.

One person. A solo marketer who mostly publishes pays $948 a year on Essentials. If that person also answers messages and reviews, Standard at $2,388 is the realistic minimum.

Three people. A small marketing team on Standard pays $7,164 a year, or $597 a month. Moving to Professional for unlimited profiles and approvals adds $3,600 a year.

Five people. At five seats, Standard costs $11,940 a year and Professional $17,940. At this size it is worth asking whether all five people need to log in, since every seat is billed in full.

Annual vs monthly billing

Sprout's FAQ says annual billing requires one upfront payment for the whole subscription term. Plans paid in installments during the term don't get the same discount. The saving against monthly billing:

Plan Annual billing Monthly billing Saving
Essentials $79 $99 20%
Standard $199 $249 20%
Professional $299 $399 25%
Advanced $399 $499 20%

Monthly billing has a higher cost per month but no long commitment. Sprout accepts major credit cards and PayPal online, and its FAQ says you can switch plans at any time, even during the trial.

A sensible path for a small team: run the 30-day trial on the plan you think you need, pay monthly for a month or two if you are unsure, then move to annual billing once the seat count is settled.

Add-ons and extra costs

Trellis Plus. Every seat includes 100 Trellis AI credits a month. Trellis Plus raises that to 1,000 credits per seat for $28 a seat a month billed annually, $35 monthly, with no overage charges. You can buy it for some seats only. Sprout says AI Assist features don't use credits; Trellis chat and skills do.

Quote-only add-ons. These are sold through sales, with no price on the page:

  • Premium Analytics and Listening, each available on Standard and up.
  • Employee Advocacy, on Standard and up.
  • Professional Services packages, on Standard and up.
  • Influencer Marketing and NewsWhip, which don't require a Sprout plan. Influencer Marketing also involves paying creator fees.

Extra profiles. The pricing page lists no way to buy profiles above the limit of 5 on Essentials and Standard; unlimited profiles come with Professional. Most social accounts count toward the limit, including LinkedIn pages and personal profiles, Google Business Profiles, Yelp, Tripadvisor and Glassdoor. Google Analytics, ad accounts tied to a profile and non-social integrations don't.

What to watch:

  • A brand with an Instagram, a Facebook page, a LinkedIn page, a TikTok account and a Google Business Profile has already used all 5 profiles on Standard. Adding Yelp means Professional.
  • Listening is the add-on most teams ask about after the trial. Ask for its price before you sign, not after.
  • The 30-day trial asks you to pick a plan and enter payment details at the end.

How to keep the Sprout bill down

  • Buy seats for the people who work in Sprout every day. Since every seat costs the full plan price, a manager who only reads a monthly report may not need one: Essentials and up can export reports as PDF or CSV.
  • Count profiles before you pick a plan. If you are at 4 or 5 profiles on Standard and plan to add a network or a location, budget for Professional now rather than upgrading every seat mid-year.
  • Use the trial to test the plan, not the product. The 30-day trial is long enough to see whether you use the inbox (Standard) or approvals and competitor reports (Professional). Sprout lets you switch plans during the trial.
  • Pay annually only once the seat count is settled. The 20% to 25% saving only pays off if you keep the seats for the year you have paid for.
  • Ask about Listening and Premium Analytics up front. They are the two add-ons with no list price, so get a quote during the trial.

Which plan fits which business

Situation Plan to start with One year, annual billing
One person scheduling posts for up to 5 profiles Essentials $948
A shop or clinic answering messages and reviews, up to 5 profiles Standard $2,388 a seat
A multi-location business or a brand with more than 5 profiles Professional $3,588 a seat
A team handling customer service through social, with a helpdesk or CRM Advanced $4,788 a seat

Nonprofit pricing

Sprout offers lower rates to US 501(c)(3) organizations on two plans, billed annually with at least two seats:

Plan Nonprofit price List price
Professional $239 a seat a month $299
Advanced $299 a seat a month $399

Two seats on nonprofit Professional come to $5,736 a year, against $7,176 at list price.

How Sprout compares with other social media management pricing

Social media management tools are priced in three different ways: per seat (Sprout Social), per user with an account limit (Hootsuite), or per social account (Buffer). For a team of three posting to 5 social accounts, on annual billing:

Tool and plan How it is priced Three people, one year
Buffer Team $10 a channel a month billed yearly, unlimited users $600
Sprout Social Essentials $79 a seat a month, 5 profiles $2,844
Hootsuite Standard $99 a user a month, up to 10 accounts $3,564
Sprout Social Standard $199 a seat a month, 5 profiles $7,164

Buffer: 5 channels × $10 × 12. Sprout and Hootsuite: price × 3 people × 12.

The price gap reflects a feature gap. Buffer has a comment inbox and analytics but no review management or keyword monitoring. Hootsuite Standard costs less than Sprout Standard and covers up to 10 accounts. Sprout's case for itself is the depth of its inbox, review handling and reports, and phone support around the clock on weekdays on every plan. Read our Buffer pricing and Hootsuite pricing guides for the full plans.

Is Sprout Social worth it for a small business?

Choose Sprout Social if your team answers a steady flow of comments, messages and reviews, and someone needs to report on it. Standard at $199 a seat is where that starts.

Choose Essentials if one person plans and publishes for up to 5 profiles and wants Sprout's calendar and reporting without the inbox. At $79 a seat it sits close to Hootsuite's entry plan.

Look elsewhere if you mainly schedule posts. A scheduler priced per channel, with a free tier, will do that job for a fraction of the cost. And if your social images come from Canva, its pricing is in our Canva pricing guide: Sprout imports Canva designs on every plan.
